Description

This is a hardcover book fully entitled "Steam: Its Generation and Use, with Catalogue of the Manufacturers of Babcock & Wilcox Limited". It is the 8th British Edition. It has a brown cover with a white title and illustration of the globe as a steam powered machine. The spine also has white text that reads, "STEAM // FIRST // BRITISH // EDITION" over top of a logo. The back cover is plain. Stamped on inside front cover are the words "Babcock & Wilcox Limited Head Office for Canada St. Henry, Montreal", and "Pump House Steam Museum". There is a handwritten note on same page that says "Blair A McFarlane McGill University Montreal". The book contains information on how to operate steam based machinery, as well as photographs and diagrams of the machines.

This book was written for the Babcock and Wilcox Company and was owned by a Blair A McFarlane at McGill in Montreal. This book was written in order to teach about the production of steam power. This is a more theoretical treatise.
