The cover page specifies that this book was reproduced in Canada by the King's Printer in January 1942. It was produced "for the exclusive use of His Majesty's Canadian Naval Forces" and not for sale. The book was issued free of charge to "each direct entry engine-room artificer, engine-room artificer apprentice and stroker on joining". This handbook provides information of the boilers and engines on ships for new recruits.

History

This book is similar to many that were published around the same time that were meant to help engineers. These books are small and meant to be carried around by engineers who need a reference guide to this new complicated technology.
