Description

This is a green hardcover book. It is entitled "Steam-Engine Principals and Practice" with several contributors. The front and back covers both have a plain dark green surface. The spine has the book title, the name of the editor and the publisher in gold texts, read "STEAM ENGINE PRINCIPALS AND PRACTICE// POWER PLANT SERIES// CROFT// McGRAW-HILL BOOK COMPANY". On the front page inside the cover is a hand-written note that read "H.CLARK// Donated by H.Clark". There is a black stamp from the Pump House Steam Museum on the central right of the page, and a hand-written pencil note of "99205094" on the bottom right corner. The cover page indicates that the book is edited by Terrell Croft and revised by E.J.Tangerman. This copy is the second edition published by McGraw-Hill Book Company, Inc. in New York and London in 1939. The book provides information on steam engines for operating engineers and plant superintendents. b- This is a green Bank of Toronto receipt. It is tucked in between page 238 and 239. The receipt has an amount of 6 dollars for bank money order, dated to October 17, 1942. On the back of the receipt is a purple stamp that reads "This opportunity to serve you is appreciated".

History

This book is similar to many that were published around the same time that were meant to help engineers. This was a little different in that it was closer to a textbook in that it was less of a practical guide and more of a theoretical piece.
