The words and music are by Tim Hallman, and it is performed by the band, Tranquility Base, and friends. The first side of the record plays a vocal arrangement, and the second side plays an instrumental arrangement. The song is approximately 2 minutes and 44 seconds long and was recorded in Lanark, Ontario. The record is stored in a printed paper sleeve with a central image of "Murney Tower in Spring," by painter, Robert A. Blenderman. The credits are on the reverse side.
The Kingston Tercentennial was a commemoration of the 300th anniversary of Count Frontenac’s landing in Canada around the Kingston area. Tim Hallman won the Kingston Tercentenary song contest in 1973 while studying music at Queen's University. Hallman has since been involved in the music industry for decades and continues to perform local shows today.
