Description

A metal hand vise. It consists of two metal arms secured together on one end in a circular form. The arms widen toward the top and end in two wide heads that clamp tightly together. A screw goes through both arms near the top and a wingnut controls the width of the clamp.

History

A hand vise is a very versatile tool, which can be used in any field of handiwork. It allows workers to hold and work with small pieces without putting their hands at risk. It is often used in metalwork, as heavy heat and pressure are used. A hand vise is sometimes called the “third hand”.
