Description

An adjustable boring bit with its original box.
a- An adjustable boring bit made of steel. The shank is cylindrical. The top edge is a square section and tapers lightly to a flat base. The bottom end is slightly flattened. A screw sits above a movable metal plate. Turning the screw moves the plate back and forth. The plate ends in a sharp spur on its exterior edge. Below the plate, the drill bit tapers to a sharp point with tight flutes. A stamp on the shank reads: "SNELL MFG. CO./FISKDALE, MASS/MADE IN U.S.A.".
b- The body of the box. It is made of cardboard and is covered in a royal blue paper. The interior is lined with wax paper.
c- The lid of the box. It is made of cardboard covered in royal blue paper. A beige label on the front reads: "YA BLO?/S"; "QUARTERS FOR TOLLS IN/ RTMO?"; "ORTLAND ST. DARTM/H N./ H"; "PHONE 6-2365". The label once went all the way around the box and overlaps over the last part.
