A small wooden mallet with a cylindrical head and a long cylindrical handle. The head has two circular faces. There is a nail in one side of the head.
Mallets are similar to hammers, but have a bigger head made of rubber, wood or brass. The wider head allows for more weight distribution, so they are less likely to mark or damage wood than other hammers are. Mallets are often used for delicate finishing work, or for hitting chisels and other tools.
