Description
An iron ball-peen hammer with a wooden handle. The hammer has a large flat face on the viewer's left side and a small rounded face on the right. Blue stamp on the handle reads: "MARION FORGED USA 8 OZ.". A translucent sticker on the back reads: "WARNING / BE SAFE / WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES / This tool can be made to chip if struck against another tool (f)ace or other hardened surface, resulting not only in damage to this (to)ol but possibly in eye or other bodily injury."
History
Ball-peen hammers have two faces, one flat and one peen, which can be rounded or pointed. The peen can be used for flattening surfaces or rounding rough edges. The hammer can also be used to hit chisels and complete precise work.
