Metal compass plane that is comprised of three parts.
a - The base of the plane is oblong in shape, with moving components in the middle that can be altered with an adjustment screws on the toe and heel. The concave interior of the base includes the bed or frog of the plane, where the double iron (part c) sits. The bottom is flat and has a fixed rectangular mouth in the centre. The bottom can be adjusted to be slightly more convex with the use of the adjustment screw at the heel and toe.
b - The cap iron that is used to secure the blade (part c) in place. The cap iron base is rectangular, with a rounded point at the top. The top point has a small curved handle attached at the front. A circular hole to is located in the centre, to attach the part to the plane base.
c- The double plane iron or blade of the plane. It is rectangular in shape, with a rectangular hole in the centre through the length of the blade. There is a circular screw through the middle that attaches a second iron. The top of the blade is stamped with "Stanley Rule // Level Co.", and on the bottom "L. Bailey's // Patent // Dec 24. 1867".
