A hollow molding plane comprised of three parts, a wooden body piece with an angled cutout through the middle and a hollow sole/profile (a), a wooden wedge piece that tapers to a point and has a rounded finger/hand hold at the top (b), and an iron with a thin stem and a wider portion at the bottom with a blade that matches the hollow profile of the body (c). The wedge and the iron fit together inside of the wooden body portion and extend out past the top. The wedge holds the iron in place as the iron's blade is exposed to the wood below the plane. Stamped on the toe of the plane is "GABRIEL", and "I BLOWER". Stamped on the heel is "I BLOWER".
Hollow molding planes are extremely versatile. They are used to cut concave grooves in any portion of a workpiece. Used alone or in conjunction with other planes, hollow molding planes allow workers to create or adjust any conceivable form.
