Description

A wooden hollow molding plane consisting of three parts.
a- The body is made of hardwood. The sole is rounded outwards. The front cheek protrudes 2cm from the body to secure the iron. The top of the cheek is rounded inwards. The mouth is cut in the centre of the piece. The top front and back edges of the body are beveled, as well as the bottom back edge. Stamps on heel: "I BLOWER". Stamps on toe: "JOHN GREEN"; "I HART"; "G. BOWER"; "I BLOWER".
b- A wooden wedge made of hardwood. The wedge has an ogee head and tapers to a point on the other end.
c- The iron is made of metal. It is narrow at the top and abruptly widens to form a cutting edge. The cutting edge is rounded outwards to cut concave grooves.

History

Hollow molding planes are extremely versatile. They are used to cut concave grooves in any portion of a workpiece. Used aloe or in conjunction with other planes, hollow molding planes allow workers to create or adjust any conceivable form.
