Grecian ogee and bevel molding plane comprised of three parts, a rectangular wooden body portion with an angled cutout through the middle and a Grecian ogee and bevel profile on the sole (a), a wooden wedge that tapers to a point at the bottom and is rounded at the top (b), and an iron with a curved blade to match the ogee profile on the plane's sole (c). The wedge and the iron fit together inside of the plane, and the wedge holds the iron in place as the plane runs across the wood surface. Stamped on the toe of the plane is "JOHN GREEN", "I BLOWER", and "R. LAWRANCE". Stamped on the heel of the plane is "R. LAWRANCE", "I BLOWER", and "5". There is also a piece of tape stuck on the front of the plane towards the toe that has "M15" written on it in pen.
Ogee molding planes are used to mold the profile of a workpiece. The ogee profile consists of a curve shaped like an 'S', or a double curve inversed around an inflection point. This can be combined with any other detail, like beads or fillets, to create unique ogee profiles. Ogee molding planes can be used to give a sophisticated finish to baseboards, doorways, and furniture trimmings.
