Description

Wooden moulder sash grooving plane comprised of three parts, the rectangular wooden body (a), the wooden wedge piece (b), and the iron (c). The wedge and the iron fit together inside of an angled hole in the middle of the plane, and the wedge holds the iron in place so that the iron's blade is exposed out of the bottom of the plane. Stamped on both the toe and the heel of the plane is "I BLOWER".

History

Sash planes are used in the building of sash window frames. They are considered molding planes. They are run across the length of the board to create a decorative profile. This is also known as “sticking” or “running” the wood.
