A wooden sash coping plane consisting of 3 parts.
a- The body is rectangular and made of light brown hardwood. A cheek protrudes from the bottom 2/3 of both the front and back sides of the body. The throat cuts diagonally through the middle of the body and is exposed through the front cheek. The sole is angled up towards the body. A wooden fence extends from the back edge of the sole. Stamps on the toe read: "DRYBURGH/BRIGHT,ONT"; "I BLOWER". Stamps on the heel read "I BLOWER"; "7/8".
b- The wedge is made of the same hardwood as the body. It tapers to a blunt point on one end and is rounded on the other in a triangular form. A small cut-out below the head allows for easy handling.
c- The iron is a narrow strip of dark grey metal. It abruptly widens near the cutting edge. The cutting edge consists of a flat edge and an angled flat edge, to produce a flat groove with an angled wall. The width of the cut is 7/8".
Sash coping planes are a variety of molding plane used in windowmaking. Sash windowpanes are framed by decorative wood slats. This model is used to shape corner joins and creates a tight finish.
