A wooden hollow molding plane comprised of three parts, a wooden rectangular body portion (a), a wooden wedge piece (b), and an iron (c). The wedge and the iron fit together inside of an angled cutout portion and extend out of the top of the body. The wedge holds the iron in place while the iron's blade is exposed to the wood beneath the plane. Stamped on the heel of the plane is "I BLOWER", "/3", and "J. HEROUX". Stamped on the toe of the plane is "E. BERNIER", "92", "I BLOWER", and J. HEROUX".
Hollow molding planes are extremely versatile. They are used to cut concave grooves in any portion of a workpiece. Used alone or in conjunction with other planes, hollow molding planes allow workers to create or adjust any conceivable form.
