Description

Hollow molding plane comprised of three parts, a rectangular wooden body with a rounded hollow profile on the sole (a), a wooden wedge that tapers to a point at the bottom and is rounded at the top (b), and an iron with a rounded blade to match the plane's hollow profile (c). The wedge and the iron fit together inside of a hollowed out portion of the plane's body, and the wedge holds the iron in place as the plane runs across the surface of the wood. Stamped on the toe of the plane is "I BLOWER", "SCOTT", and "S. DALPE ROXTON POND. P. Q.". Stamped on the heel of the plane is "1", "0", "X", and "I BLOWER". There is also a small red circular sticker on the heel of the plane.

History

Hollow molding planes are extremely versatile. They are used to cut concave grooves in any portion of a workpiece. Used alone or in conjunction with other planes, hollow molding planes allow workers to create or adjust any conceivable form.
