Description

The object is an ice cream mixer consisting of a wooden bucket and metal mixing attachments. The bucket is cylindrical in shape with a hollow interior and flat bottom. Constructed out of New England pine tongue and groove plank, the sides of the bucket were originally secured by three metal bands encircling the exterior, however two of the bands are now missing. Stamped onto the front of the bucket with black paint are the words "TRADE MARK // REGISTERED // APRIL 9 1889." and "TRIPLE MOTION // WHITE MOUNTAIN // ICE CREAM FREEZER". At the top of the bucket, a thin metal and wooden handle is attached. Opposite to the bucket handle, the metal mixer and hand crank are attached to the top opening. The metal hand crank with wooden handle is located on one the side of the mixer and attached to metal bar that goes across the top of the bucket. On the metal bar, there are several gears that connect to the dasher inside. Inside the bucket, the cylindrical dasher with a hollow interior contains twin blade and wooden paddles for mixing. When the handle is moved, the outer canister of the dasher turns counter clockwise, while the twin blades turn both clockwise and counter clockwise.
