The object is an adjustable wooden hat stretcher. It is round and made up of two separate moving parts, each comprised of at least three different pieces of wood. In the middle of the object is a metal screw that can be turned in order to move the two pieces of wood further away from each other, making the object larger and therefore allowing it to stretch the hat to a larger size. The metal screw is hollow in the middle and has three holes going through it.
A hat stretcher is a versatile tool which makes it possible for you to retain the size of your hat or even enlarge in case shrunk. It is often made of wood that absorbs moisture and preserves the leather sweatband. It is good for both felt and straw hats.
