Description
A wooden wheel shaped mold/mould for a toothed gear wheel that is painted black.
History
This mould was used at the Canadian Locomotive Company. Foundries used wooden patterns to cast multiple copies of metal machine parts. The pattern was first buried in sand to create the shape. Molten metal was poured in and workers finished the part with mills and lathes.
