A wooden chair with a black leather seat. The chair has a cresting in the middle of the top rail. There are bronze coloured metal studs around the perimeter of the base of the seat and a rectangular shaped bronze name plate on the skirt of the chair. Engraved on the name plate is "DICK MYERS // COUNCILLOR // 1994-1997". The wood is stained with a dark mahogany colour.
A reproduction based on the 1843 Council chair design. Traditionally, retiring members of Kingston City Council would receive a reproduction of the original Council chairs in use at City Hall from the 1840s until 1873 - likely dating from the period when outgoing members were able to retain their Council seat as a memento of their time in office. Councillor Myers received this chair upon retirement from Council in 1997. The City's Clerk's Office maintains a supply of these chairs for this purpose. Each chair is plaqued with the outgoing member's name and dates on Council.
