This is a tumbling blocks quilt. It is composed of diamond shapes with colour placements of red, blue and white. The quilt was made by the residents of the Providence Manor as a Tercentenary project. On the white diamond blocks, there are hand-written names of the Kingston majors and the year(s) of their terms in gold ink. The names begin with Thomas Kirkpatrick, who was the first mayor after Kingston became a town in 1838, and end with George N. Speal, who was the mayor of Kingston in 1973. The first white block has the title of the quilt in hand-written gold text: "16(9)73 KINGSTON// Kingston Ontario Mayors". The word "16(9)73 KINGSTON" is highlighted by a circle in black ink. The number "00" is written in black ink beside "16(9)73". There are white stitches are the seams of the diamond blocks.
