Description

The artifact consists a torch in a case and a plastic bag of screws and metal pieces, which are both placed inside a paper box. a- The Pan Am Games Torch: located inside a case with two coloured photographs and three plaques. On the top of the torch, the words are "TORONTO 2015 TORCH RELAY". There are graphic human characters on the middle section of the torch, and the bottom of the torch is red. The top plaque reads "TORONTO 2015 CITY OF KINGSTON PAN AM AND PARAPAN AM TORCH RELAY COMMUNITY CELEBRATIONS". The second and the third plaques describe the photographs. The plaques read "MICHELLE KEHOE, FINAL TORCHBEARER PAN AM TORCH RELAY JULY 2, 2015" and "BRETT BABCOCK, FINAL TORCHBEARER PARAPAN AM TORCH RELAY AUGUST 3, 2015". b- A plastic bag with screws, metal and plastic pieces.

History

The Pan American games are the third largest international multi-sport competition. The first Pan Am Games was held in Buenos Aires in 1951 and the first Parapan Am Games were held in Mexico in 1999. There are now 41 member nations that compete every four years.
