Description

A shield shaped wooden plaque with the Badge of the Royal Corps of Signals (part of the British Army) mounted on it. The corps badge has a background composed of light blue, dark blue and green horizontal stripes. On the top of the badge is a gold coloured crown and below is a relief of the God Mercury standing on a silver coloured globe. Around the feet of Mercury, there is a gold banner with a motto that reads "CERTA CITO" (swift & sure). A small metal plate has been nailed to the top of the plaque and has the words, " Presented by Major General J.M. Sawers, MBE. Signal Officer-in-Chief on the occasion of his visit to Canada 27 - 31 August 1973" engraved on it. On the bottom of the plaque is a gold coloured band with the words "ROYAL CORPS OF SIGNALS" in black lettering. On the back of the plaque, there is a circular shaped black coloured plastic piece at the top that reads "MADE IN GT BRITAIN".
