This artifact includes Edwin Horsey's book "History of Kingston" and six paper documents that are tucked into the pages of the book. a- This is a hardcover red book. It is entitled "History of Kingston". On the front cover, there is the word "KINGSTON" on the centre and "E.E HORSEY" on the bottom right corner, both written in silver lettering. The spine has "HISTORY OF KINGSTON" and "E.E HORSEY" in golden lettering. The back cover has a plain red surface. The book is written by Edwin E. Horsey and it is the 1945 edition. It is an overview of the history of Kingston, covering various aspects including the early settlements, city fires, the coming of the railway, newspaper publications, the development of schools, churches, military history and civic services. The chapters are mainly organized chronologically. b- This is a list of content of the book. It lists all the chapters in the book and their page numbers accordingly. The piece of paper is tucked into the book, between the front cover and the cover page. c- This is a newspaper clipping. It has a black-and-white photograph, featuring the remains of the British American Hotel after a fire. The hotel was the oldest continuously operated hotel in Canada until being destroyed in the fire. d- This is a newspaper clipping, dated to October 29, 1958. The article's title is "Bath Anglican Church Among Ontario Oldest". It briefly introduces the history of the church and possible future research. e- This is a newspaper clipping. It is entitled "Last Trains Run on Ontario's Kick-and-Push Railway". There are three black-and-white photographs, featuring train leaving Kingston and Conductor George Giff of Smith Falls at work. The photos and texts document the closing down of one of Canada's oldest railway lines. f- This is a newspaper clipping. The article's title is "Hotel Built in 1791 Burns at Kingston". It is about the fire that destroyed British American Hotel in 1963. There is a hand-written note in pencil on the top right corner that dated this newspaper clipping to March 19, 1963. g- This is a piece of paper with hand-written notes in blue ink. It has three paragraphs, introducing the history of William Losee, the 1st Methodist Chapel and Rev. Dunham accordingly. The paper is tucked in between the page 209 and 210.
