This is a square-shaped porcelain commemorative plate. It has gold and purple ribbon edging and scroll design around the brim. The plate features a coloured scene of "Flight to Egypt", in which Mary, Joseph, and the baby Jesus are at a watering stop. Mary is depicted riding a donkey and carrying baby Christ in her arms. There are lotus flowers and leaves in the water and on the left side of the scene. The illustration has some hand-painted elements. On the bottom of the plate, there are printed texts that read "Christmas 1989// The Flight to Egypt// Annual motif of a series of Christmas plates by Ole Winther// Limited Edition" in German, English, and French. Below the texts are the artist's signature, a symbol of a lion with the number "1814" inside a circle, and the words "HUTSCHENREUTHER GERMANY". On the central bottom is a green and gold paper label with golden texts that indicates this plate is ornamental porcelain and is unsafe for food.
