The top plate has the crest of the municipality of Halifax County, Nova Scotia on it. It consists of black text above and below the shield that reads "Halifax County // Municipality". The shield has a patter of bushels of wheat and trees. Below that patter is a gold and silver band. Along the upper left of the shield are green triangles pointed down to the right. There is a series of blue wavy lines on the rest of the shield. Below the shield is a yellow banner. There is black text on the banner that reads "ECUM // SECUM GO HUBBARDS". On the lower metal plate there is engraved black text. The text reads, "Present to / MAYOR JOHN P. GERRETSON // KINGSTON, ONTARIO // during the // 1986 North American Town Criers Championship // from Warden Arthur C. MacKenzie and the // Citizens of Halifax County, Nova Scotia." On the reverse side there are two gouges for hanging. There is a stamp with information on the manufacturer. Taped under the stamp is a piece of paper with the address of Warden Arthur C.
