Description

One of two large brass plates with etchings produced to commemorate the tercentenary of Kingston in 1973. On the back metal plate "Commissioned by Dupont Canada Ltd. to Commemorate Kingston's Tercentennial, Ted Wakely 1973". On the front printed around the edges, at top "United Empire Loyalist Settled 1784, on the sides the crests or coats of arms of Kingston area organizations and institutions, at Bottom the coat of arms of the City of Kingston with motto. The plate is set into a table top and secured with metal screws. The table has wide legs and wheel casters.

History

Presented to the City of Kingston in commemoration of its tercentennial in 1973, this large brass plaque in bas-relief is often used to make decorative paper rubbings.

The plaque was created by E. H. (Ted) Wakeling and donated by Du Pont Canada Inc.
