A one of two large copper plates with etchings produced to commemorate the tercentenary of Kingston in 1973. On the back metal plate "Commissioned by Dupont Canada Ltd. to Commemorate Kingston's Tercentennial, Ted Wakely 1973". On the front printed around the edges "Company with Algonquins" the names of the indigenous nations, "Louis Henri Baude Comte de Pallau de Frontenac Founding of Fort Frontenac at Cataraqui July 1973". In the centre the image of Comte Frontenac and an indigenous chief, at the bottom "Ormitro Torontes Nati" a motto. The plate is set into a table top and secured with metal screws. The table has wide legs and wheel casters.
Presented to the City of Kingston in commemoration of its tercentennial in 1973, this large brass plaque in bas-relief is often used to make decorative paper rubbings.
The plaque was created by E. H. (Ted) Wakeling and donated by Du Pont Canada Inc.
