A hand-written commemorative letter from the Mayor of Ottawa, Marion Dewar to the Mayor of Kingston on a large cream coloured piece of paper. The letter is written in an antique style parchment in cursive and rolled up like a scroll. It was written in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Rideau Canal and delivered to Kingston's Mayor, John Gerretsen by the Happy Rideau Snowmobilers Club in January 1982. The letter is in English on the left side and in French on the right side. It is signed at the central bottom. On the central top of the back of the paper, there is a hand-written note that reads "Presented to the 'Happy Rideau Snowmobilers Club' by alderman Terry ____ on January 15, 1982".
