Description

This is the music for The Wind. It is a vocal arrangement with piano accompaniment. a- This is the main body of the sheet music. It is a long piece of paper folder in half down the middle to create a booklet shape. It has the front page of the arrangement, the start of the music (page 2), page 5 and page 6. The front page has a title on it in black print that is centred in the page and reads "THE WIND // After poem from Robert Louis Stevenson's // "Child's Garden of Verse" // by // Mary E. Covert // THE FREDERICK HARRIS MUSIC CO. LIMITED". There is a handwritten note on the front page as well, that reads "To The City of Kingston // in memory of // my parents and grandparents // from // Kingston - from Mary E. Covert." There is a small 60 written in the top right corner. b- This is the middle insert of the music. It has page 3 on one side and page 4 on the other side.

History

This piece of sheet music came into the collection from Kingston-born Mary E. Covert. Covert composed the music from Robert Louis Stevenson's poem, "The Wind." This poem was published in 1885 as a part of Stevenson's larger work, "A Child's Garden of Verses."
