Description

An original signed document of "Human Rights Code" in English. It is glued onto a grey piece of card stock. On the central top of the document is a black printed Coat of Arms of the Government of Ontario, consisting of a moose and a Canadian deer supporting a shield of arms with 3 maple leaves, a black bear on the crest, and a Latin motto that reads "UT INCEPIT FIDELIS SIC PERMANE" (Loyal she began, loyal she remains). On the left side of the document is a coloured illustration of the Ontario Legislative Building on the top with a photograph of the Ontario and the Canadian flags on the bottom. On the right side of the document, the Code grants every person the right to equal treatment with respect to services, to the occupancy of accommodation, to contract without discrimination, to freedom from harassment, to membership in trade, and to claim and enforce the rights under this Act. The Human Rights Code has original hand-written signatures of Premier Minister William Davis, Minister of Labour R. Ramsey, and Barder C. Purcell, the Chairman of the Ontario Human Rights Commission. This document is dated to 1981.
