Description

a- A black and white photographic portrait of Alexander of Tunis. It depicts him sitting, chest up, with a dramatic light. He is in military dress with a number of medals on his chest. The caption at the "City of Kingston Centennial Year 1946". On the reverse is a note on cardboard (part b) and a photograph of a stamp. The photograph of the stamp says "No. 50 // Copyright Karsh Ottawa". It is signed by Alexander Tunis and Y. Karsh on the front. b- On the reverse is a cardboard piece in a plastic sleeve that says "Presented // by // J.Stuart Crawford // Mayor 1946-7-8". It is written in pencil. c- This is a small plaque. It is in a grey frame with a paper label. The plaque says "Field Marshall Viscount Alexander of Tunis // (Sir Harold Rupert Leofric George Alexander) // 1891 - 1969 // Governor-General of Canada // 1946 - 1952 // Later created 1st Earl Alexander of Tunis // and Baron Rideau of Ottawa". The frame has a plastic backing. d- This is a wire picture hanger. It has a hook on each end that is attached to a hole for a nail. e-f- A flush-mount style picture hanger. It has three screw holes, one on each side and one at the top. g-o- A small, Robertson screw.
