The photograph has a wooden frame with a glass front. It has a plastic backing and a hanging wire. Inside the plastic backing is a paper board with hand-written notes that read "Presented by J. Stuart Crawford Mayor 1946-1948."
Margaret Alexander, Viscountess of Tunis was the wife of the Governor General of Canada, the Hon. Harold Alexander. In 1946, on her husband's appointment as Governor General of Canada, she became Vice-regal consort, and Châtelaine of Rideau Hall. In recognition of this she was made a Dame Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire in 1954.
