Description

This is a carved wooden plaque. It has a small metal name plate inset in the centre. The plaque has a border made of repeated trillium logos (for the province of Ontario). There is an Ontarian Crest carved into the upper left corner. It consists of a beaver on top of the shield, and a moose and a deer holding the shield. The shield itself has three maple leaves with a St. George's Cross above them. Underneath the shield and wildlife is a banner that reads "Ut incepit Fidelis sic permanet" (Province of Ontario motto_ Loyal she began, loyal she remains). On the upper right corner is a heading that reads "Ministry of // the Solicitor // General." Below the crest and header is the title, which reads "ONTARIO CRIME PREVENTION AWARD" in engraved text. Below the title is an inset metal plate, that reads "KINGSTON & DISTRICT // SAFETY COUNCIL // NOVEMBER 1987". Below the metal plate are two engraved paragraphs that speak on successful crime prevention. Below the paragraphs is a copy of the signature of Joan Smith, Solicitor General. Below the Signature is a boarder around a trillium logo and the word "CRIMEPROOFING". The reverse side has two gouges for hanging. There is a sticker on the bottom of the reverse side with information on the laser technology used to engrave the plaque.
