Lantern, Signal

This is a metal kerosene railroad lantern. It has a red glass globe with wire ring around it. The glass is ribbed and has "Dietz No. 40" embossed on one side. This type of lantern is known as a Dietz 40 Traffic Gard Railroad Lantern. On the top of the Lantern it says "DIETZ / No. 40 Traffic Gard / SYRACUSE N.Y. - U.S.A". The arm for adjusting the wick is intact. A curled wire handle or hanging device attached to the top. The lantern is painted dark red.
