A maroon hardcover book with gold text and an image of an engine indicator done in gold. The front text says "American Steam Gauge and Valve Mfg. Co. Boston." It was written by Thomas Pray, Jr. The text on the spine says in gold, "20 YEARS WITH THE INDICATOR. PRAY. VOLS. 1 & 2." There are two rectangular embossed borders, a thicker one on the outside and a thinner one just inside of it. This border is on the front and back. The inside cover is done in a white and yellow floral pattern. There is a white rectangular label with a black border and text that says "Donated to Pump House Steam Museum, Kingston, Harry Sang, November 2010. (Reference: Paul Jeffrey)". There is also a smudged pencil circle in the upper right corner, and a pencil circle under it with "2 50" written inside it. The book describes itself as "A PRACTICAL TEXT-BOOK FOR THE ENGINEER OR THE STUDENT" and explains how to run a steam engine. The title page has several stamps on it, one that reads "15301" in the top right corner and two that read "THE LOCOMOTIVE & MACHINE COMPANY OF MONTREAL. Ltd. RECEIVED JAN 3, 1906 DRAWING ROOM" one on the title page and one on the page beside it. Both stamps have transfered some ink to the page it sits against.
