Description

A wood and metal plaque entitled 'The Sailor". The brass coloured metal plate has black edges and black lettering that are etched onto the surface. The words on the plaque read "THE SAILOR// The Sailor statue located in Halifax, Nova Scotia represents those valiant young Canadians who served in both war and peace, and is symbolic of the thousands of sailors who were instrumental in the victory at sea and a fitting acknowledgment to those who continue to maintain the peace. The Sailor statue, a project of the Atlantic Chief and Petty Officers Association, is a tribute to the role that all who go down to sea in ships have contributed to the development of this great nation. READY AYE READY. Presented to the people of Kingston, Ontario by the ships company of H.M.C.S. KINGSTON on her commissioning September 1996."
