A framed certificate. It is a simple stained wood frame with a board backing. The certificate reads, "CERTIFICATE NUMBER R-281 SERIAL NUMBER 1245 DEPARTMENT OF LABOUR, ONTARIO, PLANT OWNER'S REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE This is to certify THAT CANADIAN LOCOMOTIVE COMPANY, LIMITED IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPERATING ENGINEER'S ACT (1937, CHAP. 55) HAS REGISTERED THEIR PLANT CONSISTING OF No. OF BOILERS 6 BOILER HORSE POWER 1,750 STEAM PRESS. 150 REFRIG. COMPRESSOR HORSE POWER AIR COMPRESSOR POWER WHICH UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ACT IS REGISTERED AS One Thousand, Seven Hundred and Fifty HORSE POWER, REQUIRING AT LEAST A "First Class" ENGINEER TO BE IN CHARGE OF SHIFT ENGINEERS OF "Second Class" SITUATED AT 140 Ontario St., Kingston IN THE COUNTY OF Frontenac DATED AT TORONTO THIS 10th DAY OF July 1940. Most of the vertificate is in black ink, although some parts are in red and some are in blue. There is a sticker that says "DEPARTMENT OF LABOUR ONTARIO OPERATING ENGINEERS BOARD". The coat of arms of Ontario is at the top centre of the certificate.
