Description

A wooden hollow molding plane comprised of three parts, a rectangular shaped wooden body (a), a wooden wedge piece (b), and an iron/blade piece (c). The body (a) has a hole through the top all of the way out of the bottom so that the wedge and the blade can fit together inside of the piece. The wedge and iron extend out past the top of the body when inside. There is "ARNOLD", "I BLOWER", "I.C. KIDD", and "C.M.C.H" stamped on the toe edge. Stamped on the heel edge is "I BLOWER", and "1 5".

History

Hollow molding planes are extremely versatile. They are used to cut concave grooves in any portion of a workpiece. Used alone or in conjunction with other planes, hollow molding planes allow workers to create or adjust any conceivable form.
