Description

A wooden boot jack. It is shaped like an elongated "Y". The junction of the arms is propped up by a small wooden fulcrum, secured by two iron nails. There is a hole at the back of the jack that can be used to secure it to a surface.

History

A bootjack is a household tool used to aid in the removal of shoes and boots. The user can wedge the heel of their boot between the arms and pull their foot out. The other foot stands on the back edge of the jack, providing leverage for the arms. Bootjacks are particularly useful for those who cannot bend down or who do not wish to handle dirty boots.
